Today’s Inktober prompt is: Deliberate Strokes.

In the video for Bunzo, below, I talk about the difference between doodling and Zentangle. It has a lot to do with the fact that in Zentangle, we make deliberate strokes. Oh it might look like we are doodling to other people, they don’t realize we do everything with intention and deliberateness. As you tangle, think about the deliberateness of each stroke, as you decide where to put it and how you do it.
Here is what Bijou has to say about Deliberate Strokes, “When humans watch snails, it must look like every movement we make is deliberate. But when I’m tangling I move much more deliberately than, say, when I am foraging for food. Doing a tangle, particularly one that I know well, allows me to focus on each individual stroke. That’s because I know that when the next stroke comes, I’ll know just what to do then because I’ve learned that tangle’s “recipe.” Plus, a snail always leaves a trail . . . why not make it a deliberate one?“

Some tanglers like to challenge themselves to do a tangle a day and collect them by the month. There are many ways to do this. If you would like to create one large piece from this monthly collection, HERE are some neat template ideas. You can probably enlarge them and print them OR trace them, OR maybe it sparks another idea!
