Elefel | Tangle Time Recap | World Premier Event

On these Tangle Time sessions had the World Premier of a new tangle by fellow Tangle Addict, Sandy Vaughan, The Irish Tangler. This is a fantastic tangle with a beautiful story. Originally we had this a part of the Valantangles prompts, but I decided to also use it to kick off a short set of special prompts #7DaysToStPaddysDay. Click HERE for my version of the step-out and HERE for more inspiration and the story behind this tangle from Sandy.

If you haven’t yet attended a Tangle Time Session, first – we’d love to have you join! Second, our purpose is to explore a tangle or two. Just as in the Zentangle® methodology, there are no expectations. It’s our own individual journey and everyone on the call and in our Tangle Addicts Community enjoys celebrating each other’s work.

Speaking of that, look at all the wonderful work and the variety of creativity from our Tangle Time sessions. AMAZING work!!!

Introducing a new tangle: Elefel

On today’s Tangle Time sessions, we are premiering another wonderful tangle by Sandy Vaughan AKA The Irish Tangler.

Introducing Elefel! (L.F.L.) Here is the story from Sandy:

“I was inspired to deconstruct this pattern by my little collection of claddagh rings, my Mum gave me my first one when I was 7 years old, and I bought my son his first one when he was also 7. Claddaghs can be plain made from silver or gold, or some have gems where the heart is and diamond encrusted shoulders, and some are a more contemporary style of ring with trinity bands and additional celtic details.

Claddagh rings are a tradionally Irish ring which, when worn in a certain way and on a certain finger on your hand, means you’re either already taken and in a relationship, or worn the opposite way means that you’re free and looking for love!

I called it Elefel, which stems from the letters L. F. L. because the claddagh ring means Love, Friendship and Loyalty. The heart symbolises love, the hands are friendship, and the crown is loyalty.

Here’s the step out and some sample tiles, plus I’ve included a photo of my claddagh rings 💍

Hope you like this one and the meaning behind it, which I’ve always personally loved.”

Introducing a new tangle: Chygerr

On today’s Tangle Time sessions, we are premiering another wonderful tangle by Sandy Vaughan AKA The Irish Tangler.

Introducing Chygerr! Here is the story from Sandy:

“So this one is called Chygerr. I saw a tiktok video of a chubby tiger, and tigers are one of my favourite animals. Well, this big chubby tiger must have stuck in my mind because one day I found myself drawing a stripey pattern over and over on a blank page and then filling the stripes with various tangles. At first they were straight, but then I found myself curving the stripes, drawing them in different directions, and graduating the sizes and then liking that so much more. The five curved stripes also reminds me of a tiger’s sharp claws. Why I call it chygerr is because it’s an amalgamation of the two words chubby + tiger!

Introducing a new tangle: Louroll

On today’s Tangle Time sessions, we are premiering another wonderful tangle by Sandy Vaughan AKA The Irish Tangler, Louroll.

This is what Sandy said about her inspiration for Louroll:

“So the inspiration for my new tangle Louroll comes from the wrapping on our luxury quilted toilet paper from Andrex!! Once you know zentangle you start to see tangle patterns everywhere don’t ya?! I’ve included a close up of the wrapper. So, Irish people call the toilet the “loo”, and we call toilet paper “loo roll”. Since it’s my sister’s Louise’s birthday this weekend, I’m dedicating this tangle to her and calling it Louroll, and I think she’ll find the name connection very amusing!!

Introducing a new tangle: Woccoh

#Woccoh is a tangle by Sandy Vaughan. @theirishtangler (Instagram)

I asked Sandy about the inspiration of her tangle, she said: ” My hubby was my inspiration for the name. Woccoh is a word he uses all the time when he jokes around with me, it’s just a fun word of our own. I came up with the pattern when I was sketching out new dog tags for our three doggies. The bone shape became the top of the M-like shape of woccoh and it just emerged after a play around with it.”

These are samples from Sandy’s Instagram page, published her with her permission. Links are at the bottom of each picture.
