Spangle, Starsky & Ahh | Tangle Time Recap

On these sessions, we had a ton of fun with the tangle Spangle by CZT Mimi Lempart. I also tossed in Starsky by CZT Sue Schneider and Ahh by Zentangle to complete what could be a patriotic Zentangle work, as it was the day prior to our Independence Day Celebration here in the USA.

If you haven’t yet attended a Tangle Time Session, first – we’d love to have you join (It’s free)! Second, our purpose is to explore a tangle or two. Just as in the Zentangleยฎ methodology, there are no expectations. It’s our own individual journey and everyone in our sessions and in our Tangle Addicts Community enjoys celebrating each other’s work.

Speaking of that, look at all the wonderful work and the variety of creativity from our Tangle Time sessions. AMAZING work!!!

Check back to take a closer look at the work everyone has done! I wanted to get this out quickly so that those that couldn’t make Wednesday’s sessions. Check back to see the changes.

14 Shades of Gray | TangleAddicts Zentangleยฎ Class Recap

This recap is from the June 25, 2024 sessions, where we explored a really interesting technique created by CZT Sonya Yencer, called 14 Shades of Gray. The special part of this is the unique use of erasers to create effects, versus erasing mistakes.

String Theory | TangleAddicts Zentangleยฎ Class Recap

This recap is from the June, 11, 2024 sessions. We took a deeper dive into step-4 of the Zentangle Method. The string is important in a number of ways; first, and maybe most importantly, because it’s spontaneous (Well, sort of… for some of us, its more like forced spontaneity. HAHAHA!), the string provides an unpredictable outcome. AND because the it’s only a suggestion, it can provide layers of unpredictable outcomes.

Affirmation Tangling | TangleAddicts Zentangleยฎ ZIA Class Recap

This recap is from the May, 28, 2024 Sessions. I have seen this concept done in many different ways, sometimes being called “Found Poetry”. My spin on it is different. In the sessions, I explain the idea of focusing on something and letting the words jump out at you. It’s just amazing what happens when we try not to think toooo hard and just do. Now some, decided to go rogue and brought even more AMAZING ideas to this concept.

To everyone that participated. THANK YOU for opening up yourself and sharing a bit more of yourself. As I read and really took in everything you put on the page. I was overwhelmed with emotion with each one. Even with just a few words we can imagine where your focus was. THANK YOU! Make sure to frame it!

Day 22: Y’illa | May 2024 Tangles

Y’illa was created by CZT Theresa Fessler.

My version of the step-outs are HERE. More inspiration from the tangle creator is over THERE.

Some tanglers like to challenge themselves to do a tangle a day and collect them by the month. There are many ways to do this. If you would like to create one large piece from this monthly collection, HERE are some neat template ideas. You can probably enlarge them and print them OR trace them, OR maybe it sparks another idea!

Join us for more fun on our Private Facebook Group (make sure to answer the questions). If you haven’t joined us online for Live fun with Tangling. Join us for Tangle Time!

Have fun and happy tangling!!!

Zentangleยฎ Essentials | 4-30-2024 TangleAddicts Class Recap

There is so, SO, SOOOOO, much more to Zentangleยฎ than what we see in the gorgeous pictures. My Zentangleยฎ Essentials Sessions are all about focusing on the Method that IS Zentangleยฎ. We take it step by step, 8 of them in total. Focusing on the essential techniques, philosophies, lingo, etc. Understanding the origins and that it’s all about our individual journey!

For those that have taken this as a re-grounder & supporter, they are encouraged to take their work to another level of play – in other words, to go rouge. (As if we need any permission. HAHAHAHA!)

Map Tangling – ZIA Technique | 2024 Class Recap

After the fun prepping these tiles, it was time to tangle on them!!

Iโ€™ve seen it called Map Tangling (more recently) and Splat Tangling โ€“ Iโ€™ve added as many name options as I could find, Splodge, Splot, Splat, Splish, Splash. It’s a technique that seems to span many genres, and many many years. Oh what fun!!!

Tile Prep – ZIA Technique | 2024 Class Recap

In these sessions, we played with several ways to create amazing backgrounds to tangle on. Below is the list of items we have used in the past and will be using for this session. The idea is to play with as many items as we can to see what we can do with each medium.

While this is a stand-alone class, there will be a follow up class sharing tangling techniques for tangling on the tiles created. In my research, this concept has been around for a while in different forms. Iโ€™ve seen it called Map Tangling (more recently) and Splat Tangling โ€“ Iโ€™ve added as many name options as I could find, Splodge, Splot, Splat, Splish, Splash (if you have that tune in your head now โ€“ sorry! Hahaha)

Notan Tangling – ZIA Technique | 2024 Class Recap

Notan is a Japaneseย designย concept involving the play and placement of light and dark elements as they are placed next to the other in theย compositionย ofย artย andย imagery. We will take this a step further and incorporate tangles in contrasting colors.

We were introduced to Notan from CZT Lynn Fisher, who learned it from CZT Sandra Philips, who learned Notan at Tangle U, put on by CZT Elaine Hoffman, and decided to add some Zentangle to it. Thank you Sandra!!! Oh MY Gosh did we ever have fun with this!!!
